I’m Lauren Prats.
I’m a creative disaster. I’m fancy when I work, and I normally look like a disaster on my day off! I’m a bit of an oxymoron. I am an esthetician who sometimes falls asleep with my makeup on. I apply makeup on women everyday, yet HATE putting makeup on myself. I would rather go bare face all the time! With that said, I am in love with eyebrows and everything they can do for your faces. When it comes to brows, I believe one stray hair can make or break a face.
“Why am I a disaster?” you ask. I work way too much and I’m always late. Well, I am guilty of both because I have a family that I love and adore!
Years ago, I never EVER thought:
- my passion would turn into business.
- I would have a staff that I love and are doing what they love!
I’m married to my childhood crush, Christian (It’s like a Hallmark movie). We met when I was three and he was five. We have two gorgeous little boys; Eli, who is five and Dylan, who is 3 three. They are less than two years apart yet couldn’t be more different. They are my world, and I love to talk about them. They love to talk about everything but me. They love everything that I don’t. They love sports, bugs, and potty talk. You could very well be in my chair while I’m getting a call from school because one is doing something they aren’t. Every day I have to give them the pep talk about how important it is to be “GOOD BOYS”. I love what I do so much, but I love my boys more. I hope that I can be a mother that they are proud of. #tear.
I am usually doing two things at once, and I will forget most of the important things I’m supposed to do. Thats why I have my husband, who you will see inside of the store. He takes over all the important things that I can’t do! He does the not-so-fun stuff so I get to focus on what I’m good at–creating perfect brows while also perfecting the business. I take pride in great customer service and adding new services for my clients. I continue to be dedicated to finding new ways to make us the place to come for brows, lashes and more!
I have been an esthetician for nearly 12 years, and I never regretted going to school once. I almost went for hair, then quickly realized I hated the feeling of wet hair. I then thought, “NOPE. I will wax over that!” But it wasn’t that easy. True story: Once when I was in school, I completely waxed someones eyebrows OFF. I then freaked out and said “that will never happen again!” After that, I told myself I will learn the art of brow shaping. During my career as an Esthetician I accelerated in waxing and shaping brows.
The more passionate I became, the more I saw that there was a need in New Orleans for a place to fix everyone’s over-tweezed, badly-shaped, mixed-matched brows! Over two years ago I rented a space inside my best friend’s hair salon (Glow Hair and Beauty Bar). As I went on at Glow, I met amazing people to come along this crazy journey and become a part of this growing business. I told my girls I would work incredibly hard to create a business that allows them to fully support themselves financially. I really am so passionate about my business and love every minute of it. It has been able to thrive and grow like it has because of the people in it as well as our family, friends, and clients that love to tell their family and friends!
I am so proud of Hi-Brow and everything that it is and am so excited for the future. I hope you come and experience what so many have and loved!
